These terms govern your use of Bloom (The Bloom Guide), a mobile app for discovering specialty third-wave coffee shops. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
Effective date: 2026-04-28.
The app is operated by Stefan Bekker ("Bloom", "we", "us"). You can reach us at legal@thebloomguide.app.
Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use Bloom. If you are between 13 and the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you confirm that a parent or legal guardian has reviewed these terms on your behalf. If you are using Bloom on behalf of an organization, you confirm you have authority to bind that organization to these terms.
Your account
You can create an account with Sign in with Apple or with an email and password. You are responsible for:
- Keeping your credentials safe. Do not share your password.
- The accuracy of the information on your profile and on any shop you submit.
- All activity under your account. Tell us at legal@thebloomguide.app if you suspect unauthorized access.
We do not store your password in plaintext. If you lose access, use the password reset flow.
You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Settings → Delete account. See the privacy policy for what happens to your data when you do.
Submitting shops and content
When you submit a coffee shop you may include the shop's name, address, photographs, and answers to an eligibility questionnaire ("your content").
By submitting your content you confirm that:
- You own the rights to the photographs you upload, or you have permission from the rights holder to share them in a public guide.
- The information is accurate to the best of your knowledge.
- The submission does not infringe any third party's intellectual property, privacy, or other rights.
- You are not posting the same shop repeatedly to spam the queue.
You retain ownership of your content. You grant Bloom a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable license to host, store, reproduce, modify (for cropping, compression, and metadata stripping), publicly display, and distribute your content in and through the app and related promotional materials. This license lasts as long as the content is in the app and survives account deletion for content that has been approved and remains published as part of the curated guide.
Curator review
Every submission goes through curator review before it is published. Curators may:
- Approve a submission and publish it.
- Reject a submission with a reason (for example, the shop does not meet our third-wave criteria, the photos are unusable, or the shop appears to be closed).
- Edit a published shop entry to correct errors or improve clarity.
- Remove a published shop entry at any time.
Curator decisions are final. We do not run an appeals process. If you believe a decision was made in error, you may resubmit with additional information or email legal@thebloomguide.app.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Submit shops that do not exist, that you have not visited, or that you know do not meet the eligibility criteria.
- Submit photos you do not have rights to, or photos that contain people who have not consented to public display.
- Impersonate another person, business, or roaster.
- Submit content that is harassing, hateful, sexually explicit, or otherwise objectionable.
- Use the app to scrape data, reverse engineer the API, or interfere with the service's operation.
- Use automated tools to create accounts or submit content.
If you see content that violates these rules, use the Report action on the shop's detail screen, or email legal@thebloomguide.app.
Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate your account, with or without notice, if:
- You violate these terms.
- We are required to do so by law.
- We discontinue the service.
When an account is terminated for violations, the user cannot create new submissions. Already-published shops you submitted may remain in the guide. You can stop using the app and delete your account at any time.
The guide is informational
Bloom is a guide. The shops listed are independent businesses we do not own or operate. Hours, menus, prices, and the availability of specific brew methods change. Shops close. Owners change. We do our best to keep the guide accurate, but:
- We do not guarantee that any information in the app is current, complete, or correct.
- We do not endorse the businesses listed.
- Your interactions with any shop, including any purchase, are between you and that shop.
If you find a mistake or a closed shop, please use the Report action so curators can fix it.
Intellectual property
The Bloom name, the Bloom Guide name, the app's logos, design, and the software itself are owned by Stefan Bekker. Nothing in these terms transfers ownership of those rights to you. You may not copy, modify, or redistribute the app or its assets except as permitted by applicable law.
Shop names, logos, and trademarks belong to the respective businesses. We display them under the nominative fair use doctrine to identify the shops in the guide.
Disclaimers
The app is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Stefan Bekker and its officers, employees, and contractors are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of the app.
Our total liability for any claim relating to the app is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or (b) US$50.
Some jurisdictions do not allow these limitations; in those jurisdictions our liability is limited to the smallest amount permitted by law.
Indemnity
You agree to indemnify Stefan Bekker against any claims, damages, and reasonable legal fees arising out of (a) your content, (b) your use of the app in violation of these terms, or (c) your violation of any third party's rights. We will give you prompt notice of any such claim and let you control the defense, provided that any settlement that affects our rights requires our consent.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The "updated" date at the top of this page reflects the latest revision. For material changes we will notify active users in-app or by email at least 14 days before the change takes effect. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the new terms.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Disputes arising out of these terms or your use of the app will be resolved in the courts of the State of Georgia, United States, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts. Nothing in this section limits any non-waivable consumer rights you have under the laws of your country of residence.
